Tao Tan, 83, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born in Gao Tan, China, on September 6, 1941, to Shao Tine and Yu Hua Fe Tan. His family moved to Utah in 1981.
He served as a Major during the Vietnam War in the US Special Forces and served from 1961 until he retired in 1979. He was so proud that during the Vietnam War, he led his special forces in taking down the North Vietnam commanding headquarters.
He earned his Masters degree in Electronics. After retiring from the military, he worked in an acupuncture clinic in Salt Lake City and instructed acupuncture at Westminster. He was so proud to treat his patients with acupuncture procedures and help over 300 couples to have babies especially when OBGYN had given up! Tao was a lay member of Taoism.
Tao took pleasure in watching “Wheel of Fortune” and enjoyed going to Wendover to play the slot machines.
Tao is survived by his best friend and partner, Susan Chen.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
