OGDEN a€" Taylor Beesley Stephens, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010, from a stroke.

He was born on June 9, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph F. and Sarah Jane Beesley Stephens. He attended schools in Ogden and graduated from Weber High School.

Taylor married Lois Olsen on October 1, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They became the parents of four children, Connie (Gordon) England, Taylor Brent (Kimberly) Stephens, Shanna (Bill) Blakeley, Val (Trisha) Stephens. He was the grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren who adored him.

He was a veteran of World War II. He served with the tank destroyers and then as a mechanic for the motor pool on Hawaii. He was a master mechanic. He could repair and remake anything. He would manufacture parts when he could not find replacements.

Taylor enjoyed rebuilding wrecked cars and motor homes. The family enjoyed traveling in his motor homes and formed many very special memories.

He owned and operated Stephens Garage for many years. He earned a reputation for being an honest and caring businessman.

Taylor loved to fly. He was part owner of two airplanes and enjoyed talking about his adventures. He was always a happy, pleasant person. He made friends easily and had many lifelong friends that he enjoyed daily.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters, two half brothers, one half sister and two great-grandsons. He was the last of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center and Alpine Hospice for their kindness and loving manner in which they cared for our Dad.
