Taylor James VanCamp

January 10, 1992 ~ December 19, 2016

Taylor James VanCamp passed away on December 19, 2016. He was born on January 10, 1992 to Karen Cushing VanCamp and Larry Everett VanCamp in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was the older of their two children and lived with his parents in Magna and Stockton until the age of 11.  He rode horses and was involved in Junior Rodeo.  At the age of 11 he moved to Heber to live with his Mom and then later back to Stockton with his Dad, until his Dad was killed in July 2006.  At that time he and his sister Lexi moved to Layton to live with their Aunt Barbara, whom he affectionately called Gramma.

Because of much of the tragedy surrounding his Dad’s death, he had problems attending high school and spent some time in foster care.  He attended Northridge High School, Weber High, and Box Elder High and graduated from Morgan High.  He made friends easily and was loved by all who met him, giving everyone he met the benefit of the doubt and seeing only the good qualities in everyone.  He loved his little sister and took care of her, badgering her as only older brothers can.  He became very close to his cousins Brian and Shelby Phillips and the four of them were like siblings.  He loved animals, children and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.  Taylor was daring in his teenage years.  He dabbled in skateboarding, snowboarding, paint balling, and doing tricks on his BMX bike.  He spent many hours playing video games and was known in the gaming world by the title “UnlimitedAmbush”

After completing high school, he worked several different jobs.  First in convenience stores, then assisting children with disabilities, and was at the time of his death working at Domino’s in Layton delivering pizzas which he totally enjoyed.  He was offered management training but loved delivering so much that he was hesitant to give it up.  He was in a relationship and was in love with Hollie Connell of Riverdale.  Taylor was very much enjoying life, he had reconnected with his Mom and  even had spent some time in Salt Lake City with her the year prior to his death.  Taylor was loved by his family and by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.  There is a hole in our hearts that can only be filled with the memories and knowing that Taylor has found complete peace in God’s arms.

Taylor is survived by his sister, Lexi VanCamp; mother, Karen VanCamp; half-brother, Neal VanCamp (Corkie) and children, Scotty and Brooke; half-sister, Robyn (Al) Ramshur and children, Kenna and Josh; and maternal grandmother, Ila Cushing Bolander.  He is also survived by extended family, “Gramma” Aunt Barbara; cousin, Angie (Daniel) Nash and children, Brian Phillips and Shelby Phillips; and cousin, Pam Black-Albertson and her children, Faith, Sarah, Cassie, Abbey and Bailey.  Also many additional aunts and uncles and cousins in Salt Lake.  He was preceded in death by his dad, Larry VanCamp; grandmother, Pamela VanCamp; grandfather, Everett VanCamp; and grandfather, Jim Cushing.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Layton Hills Baptist Church, 1332 Hill Field Road, Layton, Utah.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
