Ted G. Combe

Ted G. Combe RIVERDALE – Ted Garth Combe, 80, returned to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. He was born January 8, 1929 in Ogden, a son of Phillip and Verla Richardson Combe. On September 20, 1950, Ted married Glenna Corey in Layton. On December 14, 1964 they were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. He was reared and educated in Ogden and attended Weber State College. Ted was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Washington Terrace 5th Ward. He served in many capacities – his favorite was working on the church farm. He served for many years at the Ogden Temple as an ordinance worker. He worked as a farmer in the dairy and nursery industry. He was a member of the Weber Chapter of Young Farmers where he served as President. Ted was the recipient of the Farm & Home Beautification Award presented by the Rotary Club. He also served on the Riverdale City Planning Commission. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. Ted loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved Star Valley, Wyoming and spent many hours building his cabin from items he found around town (p.s. be at peace dumpster owners). He traveled to many places, both foreign and domestic, which made Glenna very happy. One of his greatest accomplishments was instilling in his children and grandchildren his strong work ethic. Ted’s word was as good as his handshake. Surviving are his wife, Glenna, his children, Corey (Lenora) Combe, Susan (Royce) MacKay, David (Nanette) Combe, Carolee (Randy) Millet, Cheri (Glade) Denton, Julie Combe Wilcox; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceding Ted in death were his parents, two brothers, Keith P. Combe, Clair C. Combe, and one sister, Marilyn Taggart. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Washington Terrace 5th Ward Chapel, 350 West 5100 South, with Bishop Wayne Funk officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
