The piano fell silent, but a musical concert continued as Terry transitioned from this world to meet the Master Conductor on March 22, 2025.
Terry Lee Hellstrom was born on April 9, 1948, to DelMar and Leora Hellstrom. He graduated from Bonneville High School class of 1966 and always remained a proud Laker.
He served a mission in London England, where he got the chance to play at the Hyde Park Chapel and share his love of the Savior.
He married Kathleen Hansen on June 25, 1976, in the Ogden Temple.
Terry played the piano since he was 4 and blessed many people through his music. He had a gift to play what people needed to hear. He served as the ward organist for most of his life and would bring a peace and calm to those who listened.
He was able to teach many people how to play the piano. He worked at the Piano Gallery for several years where if you needed a piece of music and didn’t know the title, he could find it with just a few hummed notes. He also enjoyed accompanying several people as they sang.
He volunteered and shared his talent at McKay Dee Hospital and the Ogden Temple. He played the piano and shared his gift at several skilled nursing facilities and assisted living centers. He always took the time to visit with those who came to hear him play. There wasn’t a place that he went that he did not know someone.
He enjoyed spending time with the family watching British comedies and sharing stories.
Terry was currently serving as the Branch Organist and Resident Council President at Stonehenge where he lived. He loved visiting with each and every resident who was there.
Terry is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his four children, Julee (Richard) Rose, Greg (Brenda) Hellstrom, Carlee (Reed) Arthur, Todd (Amber) Hellstrom as well as his brothers, Shan (Marion) and Rue (Caroline). He has 15 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was proceeded in death by His parents, DelMar and Leora and his brother, Kent.
We want to express our gratitude to Dr. Hirschi and the McKay Dee Staff. Our extended family at Stonehenge for the amazing care and love that was offered and given to Terry.
