Terry J. Jones

August 19, 1952 – March 11, 2020

“Oh the last goodbye’s the hardest one to say,

This is where the cowboy rides away.”

We lost an exceptional man when Terry Jones suffered a massive heart attack on March 11, 2020 at the young age of 67.  Terry was born August 19, 1952 to William Virgil Jones and Betty Jeanne Barksdale in E. St. Louis, IL.   He was number 4 out of 9 children; all who survive him.

He was sort of a wild child and fought all his brothers’ battles.  In fact, he was known as “The Tornado” until adulthood.

Terry leaves behind his wife and best friend of almost 31 years, Kathy Holt.  He is also survived by sister-in-law Karla (Greg) Sorensen, daughter Cyndi (Tom) Bolen, two grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends who were considered family.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Terry worked hard, played hard and loved with his heart and soul.  He worked in the tire business for over 40 years and loved the last 15 years with Burt Brothers Tire before retiring in 2018.  Much to everyone’s surprise, in July 2018, he decided to pull up stakes and moved to Texas.  Living his dream life, during the last year of his life, he worked for National Roper’s Supply selling All Things Western.  To those who remember Kathy’s love affair with Nordstrom, Terry outdid her by shopping for western attire.

Terry loved taking the horses up to the mountains of Idaho to hunt elk and climbing all the way to the top of the world.  He loved golf, fishing, and lately, his brand new big green tractor and zero edge lawn mower.

He loved all people and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone, but he also spoke his mind if warranted.  He will always be remembered as a very funny – giving – honest and loving man.  He is going to be missed by so many people; especially his wife.

Even though Terry had relocated to Texas, we’re taking him home to Utah for his final resting place.  A visitation and celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date when the world calms down from the effect of the COVD19 virus.  Notification of those details will be issued at that time.  Meanwhile, please don’t ever forget Terry, but remember the journey and not the end.

“As the credits begin to roll, a sad song starts to play.

And this is where my cowboy begins to ride away.”
