Terry James Kump
Terry James Kump, age 70, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2013, after a short illness. He was born March 26, 1943 to James Earl (Pete) and Wilma Geer Kump. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School and from San Jose State College with a degree in History.
He married Ann Nunnelley on June 17, 1976, and they raised daughter Brooke (Brierley), son Torrell Kump, and daughter Patricia Kump. He worked for the State of Utah for 30 years with 20 years spent as an Administrative Law Judge, retiring in 2001. After retiring, he never wanted to wear another suit, instead choosing shorts and a t-shirt as his “official” dress code. He enjoyed desserts, golfing, spending time with his family, traveling with a horticulture group to many places in the United states and Europe, traveling with his wife and grandchildren to Mexico, Disneyland and Disney World so he could ride all of the rides; watching any sport that was on TV or completing the Sudoku and crossword puzzles with our cats on his lap; playing racketball, pickleball, and going daily to the Clearfield Aquatic Center for deep-water aerobics.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa, and did everything on his daily honey-do list without complaint (at least out loud). He made friends quickly with his gentle nature and sense of humor.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, September 20, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family one hour prior to service.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Kump; son Torrell ; Daughters Patricia and Brooke (James); grandchildren Kiley Schuler, Crystal Schuler, Jared Puls, Shelby, and Kieran Young; mother-in-law Dora Nunnelley; sister-in-law Joyce (Tom)Smith; sister-in-law Marion Nunnelley; special aunt Oran Canfield, Christie Canfield, and close family friend Chase Green.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother (Douglas), and sister (Toni).
He was a registered organ donor, and his eyes were donated for research.
