Terry Leslie Smiley

November 16, 1955 ~ December 25, 2016

Terry Leslie Smiley, 61, of Ogden, passed away early Christmas morning at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born on November 16, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio to Samuel Leslie and Ida Colleen Dixon Smiley.

In July of 1974, as the Vietnam War continued on, Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served with distinction for just over 4 years, including 11 months of foreign and/or overseas duty, being honorably discharged as a Corporal in the summer of 1978.

Most recently, Terry had applied his skills as an aircraft support mechanic for Delta Airlines in Salt Lake City. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and co-workers there.

Terry enjoyed hunting, target practice, old rock and roll, x-box, and scary old movies.

Terry is survived by his wife, Theresa K. Smiley, Ogden; children, Katie Hammond, Jennifer Smiley, and Ryan Smiley all of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Kyleigh, Emma, Abigail, and Quintin; sister, Debbie Smiley, Nederland, CO; brother, Cory Smiley, Westlake, OH; a step-daughter, Jennifer Theodule, Chicago, IL; and one step-grandchild, Patrick.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1481.
