Thelma Betteridge Blair

August 26, 1928 ~ July 16, 2016

A lovely, considerate, kind lady passed away peacefully on July 16, 2016.  Thelma Betteridge Blair was born on August 26, 1928 in Ogden to Alice Evelyn Tanner and Orland James Betteridge.  She attended schools in Ogden, graduating from OHS, and attended Weber College where she met Ed Blair.  They were married on August 27, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

While attending school, she worked at Keeley’s in Ogden.  She also worked at the Salt Lake location while Ed attended school.  When her children were older she worked at Peterson Pharmacy.

Thelma excelled at bowling, tennis and golf achieving three holes-in-one. She was a member of the Ladies Association at the Ogden Golf & Country Club.  She was happiest golfing with her husband, golf group, and her family.  When she played with her grandchildren everyone wanted to be her partner.  She and Ed enjoyed dancing and Thelma never passed up an opportunity to fill her dance card.  She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and especially enjoyed those she met playing duplicate.  Ed and Thelma were fortunate to travel together and visit many places in many countries.

Thelma was an active member of the Highland LDS Ward, faithfully fulfilling many callings and opportunities to serve there.

She is survived by her children, Machelle Ferguson, Robert and Nancy Blair; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Mary Ellen Apostol, Marsha Willis, and Sharon Hinkley; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Dale Betteridge; son, Brian Blair; granddaughter, Lindsay Richards; and great-granddaughter, Madison Ferguson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all those who helped make Mom’s life journey enjoyable.  Mom graduated from Ogden High and loved watching her family play all sports, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the OHS booster club at www. ogdenschoolfoundation.org.
