Thelma Kruitbosch Donoviel

October 28, 1922 ~ June 15, 2016

Thelma Kruitbosch Donoviel passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016 at age 93.  She was born on October 28, 1922 to Gerrit John and Marinda Kruitbosch.  Thelma grew up on the family farm on West 21st Street.  She attended Pingree Elementary, Central Jr. High, and Ogden High School.

She met Frank Donoviel at a roller skating rink, married on July 17, 1940, and had 65 fun-filled years together.  They owned and operated Payless Appliance Co. from 1951 to 1986, and traveled throughout the world with Hotpoint, Zenith, Whirlpool, and Motorola Distributors.

Thelma was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She and Frank loved to dance at the White City Bowl, the Altramitra Dance Club, the Elks Club, and the Ambassador Club.  They created warm loving homes on Liberty Avenue, 10th Street, in Pleasant View, and North Ogden.

Thelma loved being a homemaker, home decorator, creating beautiful outdoor gardens, hosting many unforgettable family parties, and enjoying the beautiful mountains of the west.  Family was everything to Thelma, especially Sunday coffee with her son, going to lunch with her daughters, and treating family members to dinner.

Thelma is survived by her son, Ken (Lynne) of Ogden, daughter, Diane (Bob) Humiston of Pleasant View; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Kelly (Roger) Cragun, Steve (Sarah) Donoviel, Christian (Stephany) Cable, Brian (Kate) Humiston, Curtis (Danielle) Humiston, Kayla Humiston, Karen (Ron) Larsen, and Scott (Jennifer) Evans, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.  She has one surviving sister, Ann DeHann.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kay (Bill) Evans; grandson, Jarrad Cable; and eight brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to thank Thelma’s neighbors at Scotsdale Estates who helped and cared for her, especially Joanie and Fred, Jeri and Ron, Debbie and Bob; the staff at Mt. Ogden Health and Rehab who were so kind and helpful; and Brighton Hospice for making her comfortable.

A graveside services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.  Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thelma’s name to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 140 N. Tyler Ave. Ogden.
