Thelma Lily Lemmons Smith Hendricks
Thelma Lily Lemmons Smith Hendricks, 93, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Thelma and her twin sister were the youngest living children born to Thomas Jefferson and Martha Pearl Richardson Lemmons in Raymondville, Missouri. Thelma grew up in Licking, Missouri.
She married Arthur Harold Smith in 1944. Shortly afterwards he went back to serve our country during World War II and was killed on May 15, 1944. Four months after Arthur was killed, Arthur Francis Smith was born.
Thelma married Darwin C. Hendricks on December 20, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved Relief Society and served as a visiting teacher. Thelma loved singing and was member of the choir in the various wards they lived in.
Thelma was busy, active and funny, let''s face it she was also a little bit bossy. She was immaculate from head to toe; never a hair out of place. She had a beautiful natural laugh that filled the room.
She loved painting landscapes and flowers. When she was younger she grew wonderful vegetable gardens and as she got older she had beautiful flower gardens. Thelma loved to read and read a lot. She would often go for walks to enjoy the beauty around her.
Thelma is survived by her son, Arthur Francis (Julie) Smith, Lindon; daughters, Sharon Burgess, Salt Lake City and Jo-Kay (Robert) Jansen, Irwin, PA; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents and 10 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to thank Wendy, Mataya, and David from Curo Hospice and everyone at Summerfield Manor for all they did for mom.
