Thelma Flinders Parkin
WEST POINT a" Thelma F. Parkin, 62, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at her home after a 17 year battle with brain cancer.
She was born in Ogden, Utah on February 1, 1946 to C. H. and Zella Mitchell Flinders.
She married John Connolly on May 3, 1971, they later divorced. She married Andre Breton Jr. on December 5, 1982, they later divorced. She married William Parkin on July 16, 1990.
She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1964 and thereafter from Painter College of Beauty. Thelma worked for Fran Brown and had beauty shops in her homes in Layton and West Point. She especially loved all her clients as they became her best friends.
Thelma was a Utah Jazz fan and also loved to cook. She loved sewing, crocheting, taking care of her family, gardening and playing with her grandkids.
Thelma was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings. She served a German North Mission from 1967 a" 1969. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Rachel Layton Warren Camp, and loved going to their meetings.
She is survived by her large family; her husband Bill, two sons and two daughters; Johnny Flinders, Draper; Kenneth Connolly, Washington Terrace; Andrea (Steve) Lemons, Delta Junction, AK; Bonnie (Jeff) Stay, South Jordan. She is also survived by two step-children, Chad Parkin, Clinton; Dayna Parkin, Tooele; nine grandchildren, eight brothers, Clarence (Sherry) Flinders, Troy, MI; Leon (Brenda) Flinders, West Wendover, NV; George Flinders, Ogden; Ray (Sherry) Flinders, West Weber; Milt (Adele) Flinders, West Point; Carl (Debbie) Flinders, Bear River City; Reed (Sharon) Flinders, Clinton; Dale Flinders, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Effie (Deloy) Ottley, St. George; and Ann (Lenny) Williams, West Point.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the West Point Stake Center, 550 N. 2300 W. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p. m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice, and especially Amanda and Ozzie Turner, Mary from Comfort Keepers, Dayna Parkin, Verna Howard, Milt Flinders, Ken Connolly, Reed Flinders, Val Walker, and others too numerous to mention.
