Thelma Corbitt Vermillion

May 16, 1922 ~ June 7, 2010

Thelma Corbitt Vermillion died at age 88 in Layton, Utah, surrounded by her family, at her son''s home.

She was born in Charleston, West Virginia, lived for awhile in Baltimore, Maryland and then returned to their beloved Charleston where she met and married her eternal companion, Otis L. Vermillion.

She attended St. Mary''s Nursing School in Charleston and graduated with her RN in 1947. She loved being a nurse.

She had two sons, Stephen and David. They were the light of her life. She and her family moved to Lompoc, California in 1963. While in California the family had the blessing of being sealed in the Los Angeles Temple in 1964. She and her husband, Otis, resided in California until 1986 and then moved to Layton, Utah. Otis passed away soon thereafter and Thelma was a widow for almost 22 years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She served a full-time mission to the San Bernardino, California Mission and several church service missions to Temple Square, the Church Office Building, as well as a temple worker in the Ogden, Utah temple for four years. She was an avid genealogist. For the past four years she has lived at the Seville Retirement Home in Orem, Utah where she served diligently making toy monkeys and little girl''s dresses for the Humanitarian Center.

She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Stephen (Peggy) and David (Jan), her 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Charlie and Sharon Hurdle for their love and care for Aunt Thelma.
