Thelma K. Wahlstrom
SOUTH OGDEN a" Thelma Kathleen King Wahlstrom, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2010.
Thelma was born November 27, 1933 in Ogden, to William and Leola King.
Thelma married George Torjussen in 1953. They later divorced. She married Earl J. Wahlstrom in 1955. They later divorced.
Thelma grew up in Ogden and graduated from Weber High School in 1951, attended Utah State College in 1952 to seek her "Mrs." Degree, along with two dear friends, Beverly Jorgenson and Carolyn Child.
She worked for Mountain Bell, was a homemaker for 18 years, McKay-Dee Hospital as a nursing aide for 13 years, and over 20 years as a home care provider for the mentally handicapped. Thelma was pivotal in the creation of the Kind Care Training Center in 1963 and the ALP disabled adult program in Brigham City.
Thelma loved her family very much and helped anyone in need. Her flower gardens and seasonal decorations were enjoyed by many. Thelma was an avid bowler and succeeded in going to a National Bowling tournament. She also enjoyed her lunch dates with her many friends.
Thelma is survived by her loving children: Dale (Linda) Wahlstrom, Brent Wahlstrom, Ross Wahlstrom, Jodie (Robert) Gallegos, Julie (John) Black, Janis (Mike) Hart-Allen, adopted daughter Dorothy Sims, 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Also surviving are her brothers, Gene King and Verl King, many nieces and nephews, and special daughter-in-law Carol Wahlstrom. Also close to Thelma are Maryann, Barbara, Marlene, Judy, Russell C. and Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Maureen Whiting and an infant child.
The family wishes to thank everyone who cared for our mother: Dr. Hemmersmeier, Dr. Mian, Dr. Glover and the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center and Manor Care Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will visit with friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
