Thelma Vaughn White
Our loving-wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Thelma Vaughn White passed away on April 23, 2013 at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.
Thelma was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 1, 1923 to William Lorenzo and Florence Hogge Vaughn. She grew up in West Weber, Utah in a home where values were taught and hard work was a must. She carried those values and work ethic throughout the rest of her life. She graduated from Weber High School in the spring of 1941. Early the following year she married her sweetheart Carl Christian White. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 15, 1942 and continued their loving relationship for 62 years until Carl passed away on March 5, 2004. They lived most of their married lives in Farr West, Utah and raised two loving children.
She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many callings throughout her time in the church. She especially loved working with the Primary children and spent many years serving them. Thelma belonged to the Farr West Dinner Club and loved to go out to the monthly club dinners. However, dinner was not the main course, as catching up on the local city gossip was a must and plenty of time was spent socializing before and after dinner.
Family was the most important thing in Thelma''s life and she devoted all of her time and talents to raising her family. Thelma loved her children and treated her grandchildren as if they were her own. She always took the time to attend any activity that was going on in the life of her grandchildren and there was never a holiday that went by without gift of some sort being delivered to them. Sunday family dinners were a must and everyone in the family was greeted in the kitchen with a warm smile and a loving hug.
Camping and fishing with her family were one of the many activities she enjoyed doing throughout her life. She loved to travel around the western states with her family following the horse races wherever they took her. Holidays around the Whites were always a time of celebration and joy, centered on spending time with the ones they loved. Thelma will be missed the most by those who felt her warm heart and loving hands.
Thelma is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karlene (Gary) Douglas; son, W. Dennis (Cathy) White; 7 grandchildren, Shawn (Jani) Douglas, Daren White, Shane (Heidi) Douglas, Eric (Traci) White, Amy (Tony) Byington, Scott (Erin) Douglas, and Cody White; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Ronald) Skeen; brother, Bert (ReNee) Vaughn, sisters-in-law, Jean Vaughn, Lola Sessions, and Lucile Page; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents, brother, Delbert Vaughn; four brothers-in-law, Lamar Sessions,Reed Page, Delmar Whie and Floyd White; two sisters-in-law, Norma White and Elva White.
