Theo TreVar Maisey

December 5, 1928 ~ September 24, 2018

Theo TreVar Maisey, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Monday, September 24, 2018. He was born on December 5, 1928 in Mendon, Utah, the son of Daniel Lovell and Matilda Priscilla Gibbs Maisey.

Theo married his sweetheart Ruth Thornock on November 25, 1953 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They were sealed for time and all eternity.

Dad was a veteran of the Korean War serving as an Intel Analyst from 1953 to 1955. He worked for Kennecott Copper and retired from the State of Utah as a computer programmer.

In Dad’s passing he left a legacy of passion for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to serve as a missionary in the Mid-States Mission, he was also called as Bishop, High Councilor and Temple Ordinance Worker. Dad held many callings and loved looking for the chance to serve. Dad truly loved his opportunities to work in and attend the temple. He was the epitome of the pure love of Christ through his work, his service, and accepting people of all walks of life.

Dad is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years; their children, Theo Brent Maisey, Danette (Mike) Fry, Karen Maisey, Jill (Lowell) Whitley, Daniel Guy (Danette) Maisey, 35 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, Joan Maisey, Jean Maisey, and Shirley Thornock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and spouses, four brothers and two spouses, and one grandson, Weston.

Dad loved gardening, growing roses, fruit trees, raspberries, flowers, and cooking pancakes for the kids. He loved camping and the outdoors, especially family time at Bear Lake.  He always taught us to leave a place better than we found it. Mom and Dad’s house is a warm place to land where everyone is welcome.

Dad was especially fond of the Daniel and Priscilla Maisey’s annual Family Reunion. We will always cherish the memories of those joyous times. Dad also liked playing the piano; us children would gather around and sing with him. God Bless America was one of the favorites. The grandchildren carried on the tradition.

Our family would like to thank Meals on Wheels and the wonderful care providers from ASPIRE Hospice for the kind and respectful care of Dad over the last 18 months. We would also like to express our love for Mom and Dad’s ministering teachers, Bill and Fred and Joy and Robin, as well as, all the family, friends and ward members that have cared for them over the years.
