Ted Dunn

Theodore Arthur Dunn was born in Toronto, Canada on March 12, 1920. He attended Dartmouth College and graduated in 1942, just in time to become a US citizen and enlist in the Navy. He was a pilot in WWII, serving in the Pacific. After the war, he moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where he was the assistant personnel director for the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. He worked for the laboratory for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He was instrumental in developing, building and maintaining the Los Alamos skating rink. He was active in the Episcopalian Church, his city and his community. He was a beautiful skater and accomplished hockey player. Those who knew Ted the hockey player never wanted to be across the puck from him in a faceoff. After retiring he moved to Ogden, Utah.

Ted was lucky in love. In March of 1950, he married Eleanor Downer, whom he loved dearly. In 1984, at the age of 57, she passed away, but before she did, Eleanor made it clear that he should re-marry. Being an obedient husband, he did, and once again he was lucky in love. He married Ann Alene Wiechmann on June 22, 1985, and their union continues to be an inspiring love story to friends and family. Between the two beautiful women in his life, he was the proud father of 6 children, 44 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. His contributions and talents and zest for life are simply too varied and numerous to list here.

That said, Ted played competitive hockey until the age of 68, practicing with some of the SLC Golden Eagles in pickup games and he looked forward to the annual Hockey World Senior Olympics held in California. He played for the Los Angeles Old Coasters and has numerous medals. He loved playing golf and bridge, parties with "The Wild Bunch", traveling with his gypsy bride and supporting the extended family they both loved. He always had a smile that radiated love and life and told stories that could make you laugh and cry and wonder if they really were true, and if for some reason they weren''t, well, they just simply should have been. Born and raised an Episcopalian, he joined the LDS Church in 1992, was sealed to both Eleanor and Ann Alene and was an ordained High Priest. Life has been good.

Ted is missed, loved and admired by his children, David (Robbyn) Dunn, Steve (Peggy) Dunn, April (Bryan) Redd, Ashley (Janice) Wiechmann and Aric (Cindy) Wiechmann, beloved grandchildren, his absolutely fantastic great-grandchildren...and the apple of his eye Ann Alene.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Felix.
