Theodoros Tsournos

September 7, 1934 ~ November 21, 2017

Theodoros (Ted) Tsournos, 83, died Wednesday, November 21, 2017 at his home.

He was born September 7, 1934 in Divia, Greece, a son of Panagiotis and Fotini Tsournos.

On May 29, 1966, he married Joanna B. Tsournos in Ogden, UT. They had two children, Tula and Pete.

In Greece, Ted served in the army, and was accepted into the Naval Academy and a teaching university. He immigrated to the United States in 1962. In the U.S., Ted tended sheep, worked as a butcher and most recently, as a baker. He retired from Wonder Bread Bakery in 2000 having worked 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Joanna, daughter Tula and brother Gus. He is survived by his brother, George, sister, Elsa and son, Pete, daughter-in-law, Jen, and granddaughters Evangelina and Zoe.

Ted was extremely dedicated and loyal to his family. Ted followed his brothers to the United States, remaining in Greece until his younger sister Elsa was married. He worked graveyard or swing shifts for most of his career at physically taxing jobs to provide for his wife and children, including sending both children to college.

Ted was quick to laugh. He lived fully and completely, without filter. His smile was wide, his laugh was full, and his dark eyes sparkled.

When he was not working, Ted enjoyed playing cards, gathering with his brothers and their families, and taking drives and picnics in the mountains. Later in life, he took much joy in his two granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11 a.m.at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration 674 42nd St. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m.at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
