Theone Tanner Carr
Theone T. Carr was born in Price Utah to Kathleen Eleanor Edwards and Aubrey Deloss Tanner, the oldest of four children. She passed away peacefully one day before her 93rd birthday, hours after her seven children had celebrated with her via zoom.
Theone graduated from Carbon High in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Kendall Carr, on June 21, 1948, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Joe passed away in 1974, leaving Theone to finish raising the family of seven children.
A devoted housewife, mother, and church member, Theone enjoyed entertaining and planning activities for her family, church, scouting, and organizing fundraisers for many organizations. She also helped start a women’s investment club in the 1950’s named the Two-Bit Club.
Theone went back to college in 1969 to get her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse in Syracuse, New York, and San Jose, California. At the age of 60, she followed a life-long passion for the circus and went to circus school in San Francisco and joined the San Jose Clown Club. “Oney” enjoyed performing for her grandchildren, at senior centers, birthday parties and parades when the circus came town.
Her love of travel and adventure took her to all 50 states and Canada, England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Russia, Mexico, and the Bahamas. After she retired from nursing, she bought an RV and hit the road for a couple years visiting family, friends, and places of interest.
She is survived by her sister, Margie Watts (San Bruno, CA) and brother, Robert Tanner (Concord, CA). She is also survived by her daughters, Theone Kartchner (Bluffdale, UT), Susan Dompe (San Jose, CA) and sons William J. Carr ( Concord, CA), Kendall A. Carr ( Doswell, VA), Russell T. Carr (Columbus, NE), Darrell G. Carr (Richland, WA), and Randall E. Carr (Kaysville, UT). She is survived by 31 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
