Theral Jack Holt
August 11, 1930 – December 25, 2017
Jack was born in Fielding, Utah to Earl Joshua Holt and Lovinnie Sophia Petersen Holt. He grew up in Fielding, helping on the farm, learning how to hunt and fish, and spending time with his five older siblings. He attended Bear River High School in Garland Utah, where he met Cheryle Sandall, who lived in Tremonton, Utah. They were married in June of 1947 in the Logan, Utah temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their first two daughters, Suzanne and Marthann, were born in Tremonton.
Jack lived in Ogden for a time, where he learned a bit about the new computer field. It was interesting to him, and when he found out that Hughes Aircraft, in Southern California, was hiring people to help with the computers, he took the chance, and the family moved to Los Angeles. He worked at Hughes Aircraft, a true pioneer in the emerging technology field. Their third and fourth children, Sheri and Mike, were born in Los Angeles. In 1963, Jack was hired by a bank in Phoenix, Arizona, to be the head of their computer department. The family moved to Phoenix and then Scottsdale. The house in Scottsdale was in an area of emerging growth, but Jack was able to have a property where he could have horses, which he enjoyed very much. The desert all around was great riding country.
Jack and Cheryle ended their marriage in Phoenix. Jack met Darlene DeWeese, they were married for 42 years. They lived in Phoenix for a time, and then moved to Utah. Jack was a wonderful father, always making sure that he attended his children’s special events. He gave them encouragement and praise. He will be missed greatly.
He is survived by: Darlene Holt, Suzanne (Richard Lee), Marthann (Delbert Tanner), Sheri Lynn (Mike Savage), Michael Holt (DeAnne Clausen), Kevin Gunty (Kathy), Cheryl (Chip Wuerz), Mark Gunty (Nannette Green).
