Theron V. Sargent

Theron V. Sargent, 85, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015.  Born on October 3, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma, to Theron W. and Bernice Sargent.  The family moved from Oklahoma to Dillon, Montana where he spent his formative years.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  During his service he met Elizabeth May Howard and they married on December 26, 1952.  They spent many years together until her death.  He then met Roberta Trott, they were married on February 7, 2004 and spent many happy years together.

Theron graduated from Beaver County High School in Dillon, Montana and then from the University of Montana with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduation, he worked for the Hercules Inc. for 30 years, helping to design and build rocker motors used in the Minute Man and Polaris ICBM Systems.

Theron’s hobbies included working and fixing anything.  He had an extraordinary mind capable of recalling how things worked and the ability to fix them no matter how complex or simple.  He enjoyed playing music having multiple instruments over the years, but he enjoyed fishing most. A trip back to the streams and rivers of his childhood would bring a sparkle to his eyes.

He was a founding member of the Roy Christian Church in 1969 and Harbor Christian Church in 2011.

As father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Theron was devoted and selfless to his family and friends.

Theron is survived by his wife, Roberta, North Ogden; his sister, Carolyn Beatty, DuBois, PA; son, Paul (Pat), Roy; daughter Joey Miller, Spring, TX; stepson, Travis Mathis, North Ogden; grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Maas, Roy; Brandy Miller, Ogden; Kimberly Sargent, Roy; Laurie (Chase) Larsen, Roy; and great-grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Kayla Miller, Destynee Mathis, and Lillian Larsen.  Theron was preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Bernice; wife, Elizabeth; and stepsons, Randy Mathis and Donald Mathis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
