Theron McKee Wood
1928 ~ 2007
Theron McKee Wood, 79, of Kaysville, Utah died on June 1, 2007 of heart failure.
He was born in Holden, Utah to Clayton Ashby Wood and Eva Louise McKee Wood and lived there until he was twelve. After the death of his mother, the family moved to Layton where Clayton married Septemma Whitesides. Theron graduated from Davis High School in 1947, then attended Utah State University. He served sixteen months in the army in Germany, and upon his return started his career at Hill Field. He retired after 34 years as a civilian R & D officer in the aircraft trainers division.
He married Avice Mathias on January 20, 1956, and they were sealed in the Ogden Temple on January 13, 1977.
He was a member of the Kaysville 4th Ward and served in many callings including scoutmaster.
Theron was an early member of the Davis County Jeep Patrol, as well as a Kaysville volunteer fireman. He was a member of Sons of the Utah Pioneers, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA. As an avid outdoorsman, he has been referred to as a river rat, a wagon master, and a backroads specialist.
He has been a long time booster of DHS track & field, football, and the band program (especially when his children were in band).
Theron was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two step-brothers. He is survived by his wife Avice, sons Kevin (Bountiful), Doug (Bountiful), daughter Lisa (Neil) Willey (Springville), son Scott (California) and four grandchildren Jacque Wood, Brian Wood, Aliesha Willey and Dustin Willey. Also surviving are his brother Ted (Joanne) of Bountiful, and sister Joan (Chuck) Triplett of St. George.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11 AM at the Brookhaven Chapel, 190 N. Country Lane Rd (1200 E.) in Kaysville.
Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Brookhaven Chapel. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
