Thomas Lee Burgess

July 5, 1951 — March 16, 2023

Our father Thomas Lee Burgess passed away in his home on March 16, 2023 at the age of 71.

 

Thomas is survived by one daughter, Shelly (Darren) Layman; four sons, Troy (Jennifer), Steven, Cody, and Tommy (Aubrey); 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen; daughter, Brandy and one son, Jeremiah.

 

He was born in Provo, UT on July 5, 1951. He spent his childhood being raised in Carbon County and the Ogden area.

 

Thomas met the love of his life Karen and was married in Ogden on February 19, 1971 and was later sealed in the Ogden Temple. They spent their life together enjoying camping and the outdoors.

 

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War era and was a patriot at heart. He also had a passion for horses and the Western culture. For many years he was known as the Christmas grandpa who was honored by his community for his elaborate Christmas decorations.

 

His graveside services will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at  Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.
