LAYTON a€" Thomas Ferguson Davidson, 83, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013. He was the son of Lorimer A. and Betty Gael Valentine Davidson. Born in New York City, Tom moved around the country before settling in Washington, D.C. as the boy next door.

Tom married Nancy Lee Selecman on November, 10, 1951. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years together.

He received a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland and then pursued graduate studies at Ohio State and Princeton. Upon graduation from Maryland, Tom was commissioned and spent the next 10 years in the Air Force, mostly in gas turbine and rocket propulsion R&D. After joining Thiokol, he progressed through several marketing and engineering positions and retired as a vice president in 1990.

Since retirement, Tom has been extensively involved in community activities: Red Cross, Family Counseling Service, Utah Musical Theater, Dinosaur Park, OWATC Foundation, WSU Foundation, Wildcat Club, WSU Athletic Board, and a variety of church offices. He has been a member of the Utah State Board of Education and on the Board of Trustees of WSU. He is also a member of the WSU National Advisory Committee. In 1998, Tom received an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Weber State. In 2008, Tom and Nancy received the United Way Community Leader award.

Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Tom (Kitty) and Richard (Pamela); daughter, Gwyn (John) Larsen Schmidt; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, David Larsen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Community Methodist Church, 163 West 4800 South, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
