Thomas Henry O’Shea
August 5, 1950 ~ December 12, 2019
On August 12, 2019, we lost our beloved Father, Grandfather, and Brother. Thomas Henry O’Shea passed away peacefully but not without a courageous fight. He was loved and respected by all that knew him.
He was very loved by his family and he was their heart and foundation. Tom loved his children and had a fierce love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As a child, Tom was very active in sports. He played hockey, golf, ping pong and baseball. His love for baseball attracted the attention of scouts for the Boston Redsox. Instead of pro ball he made the decision to serve his country in the United States Airforce. He served from 1971 to 1979.
He met his wife, Mary Beth McGarvey, at Chanute AFB in 1973. They were married in 1975. After their son and daughter were born, he made the decision to further his career in the Department of Defense. He and his family moved all over the United States following his career. In 1991, he and his family settled in Utah until his passing.
Tom’s long career with the Department of Defense spanned over many decades and included companies such as Sperry Univac, Loral, Loral Martin, Martin Marietta, Lockheed, Lockheed Martin, and finally BAE Systems.
Tom also had a passion for muscle cars. He talked about them often and always said he wished he still owned the cars he had growing up with a big garage and driveway to keep them all. He fell in love with three that he cherished the most. His 2006 Pontiac GTO, 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP and his beloved 2001 Ford Crown Victoria (His old man car).
