Thomas Wesley Spencer

October 19, 1925 – June 3, 2014

Thomas Wesley Spencer, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.  He was born to Aaron Parley and Emma Flossie Rich Spencer on October 19, 1925 in Slaterville, Utah.  He lived his whole life in Slaterville except for the short time he served his country in the Army during World War II.

He married Jean McCloy on August 18, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  She passed away on November 24, 1993.  Wes married Lenore Hansen Brown on August 20, 1994 in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Wes was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He loved missionary work serving over 16 years as a ward missionary.  He served a full time mission to California with his wife Lenore.  He was proud of his grandchildren as they served missions knowing that “The Lord would take care of them.”.

He worked as a farmer and at Defense Depot Ogden.  He was happiest while riding his tractor, mowing his own grass until 5 weeks before his death.

We was a member of Toastmasters International and Saturday Night Dance Club.

He loved to travel with Lenore which he referred to as a “Honeymoon”.  They went on many cruises and toured many countries.  Wes enjoyed ballroom dancing.  He was an avid watcher of the TV News and for many years held season tickets and cheered for the BYU football team.

Wes is survived by his wife, Lenore Hansen Brown Spencer, MSC, UT;  sons, Bart (Sandra) Spencer, MSC, UT; Darrell (Dana) Spencer, MSC;  Brian (Janel) Spencer, Farmington, UT; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.  He was also loved by numerous beloved step-children, grand and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean McCloy Spencer; his parents, sister, Eileen Spencer, and brothers, Earl Spencer, Elmer Spencer, and Jesse Spencer.
