Thomas Junior Stewart

Thomas Junior Stewart, 88, died on Thursday, September 15, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on May 30, 1923 to Thomas C. and Besse Shaw Syme Stewart in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was raised in Lyman and LeRoy, Wyoming and Huntsville, Utah.
Tom joined the Navy on December 15, 1942, and went to bootcamp in Idaho; and then stationed in Minneapolis, Minnesota; San Diego, California, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and New London, Connecticut from 1942 to 1945. He was discharged from the Navy on November 5, 1945 in New York, New York.
He met his future wife Carrie Lewis in Minneapolis in 1942. They were married on September 9, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized on November 25, 1961 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
They have enjoyed many years of traveling and camping with their many friends. Tom loved fishing and hunting until medical problems changed his life. Tom and Carrie lived in Sylmar, California from 1958 to 1963, when they moved to Utah.
Tom was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions. He was a machinist at Bendix-Pacific, Marquardt and Thiokol, where he retired in 1988.
He is survived by his loving wife Carrie, three sons: Gregg J., Riverdale, Utah; Thom J., Las Vegas, Nevada; and Gary "Bo" (Cyndy), Roy, Utah; five grandchildren: Derrick Stewart, Jamey (Michael) Magee, Brian (Brandi) Stewart, Jesse (Keri) Stewart, Ciara Stewart, five great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, and a brother Wesley Wilson, Evanston, WY.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Wesley Wilson, and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful CNAs, nurses and other staff members at George E. Wahlen Ogden Veteran''s Home who took care of Tom for the 18 months he resided there.
