SOUTH OGDEN a€" Thomas Vincent Wainwright, husband, father, and grandpa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

He was born February 1, 1916, to Walter and Kathryn MacCarthy Wainwright in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest of seven children. In 1939, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii when the war was declared with Japan. He was one of the last surviving Pearl Harbor survivors.

In April of 1944, he married his first wife Lucille Wilson, and they had two children. She later passed away. On June 8, 1970, he married Helen James. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Wainwright and four children, Richard Wainwright, Virginia (Gerry) Sugihara, Sandra (Leonard) Davis, Patricia (Phillip) Rock; one sister, Ann Weisman, 12 grandkids, 13 great-grandkids and seven great-great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday, February 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home for the care they had given him.
