Thora Sue Smith SOUTH OGDEN – Thora Sue Smith, 68, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was born February 24, 1939 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of John Thurston and Dell Peck Owens. In 1962, Thora married Kenneth G. Sorensen in Ogden. They were later divorced. She married Jay Smith in June of 1976 in Elko, Nevada. Jay preceded her in death on February 22, 2003. She attended the Ogden City Schools graduating from Ben Lomond High School and Stevens-Henager Business School. She was a member of the Pep Club at Ben Lomond High School. Thora was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings. She enjoyed ceramics, toll painting and eating out. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Mark (Kimberly) Sorensen, Las Vegas, NV; Shana (Mike) Glines, Taylorsville, UT; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Don L. (Sandy) Owens, Ogden; and Dr. John P. Owens, Santa Cruz, CA. Preceding Thora in death were her parents and her husband Jay. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Malad, Idaho City Cemetery.
