Tia Marie Cornelius

Tia Marie Cornelius passed way after a courageous and long battle with depression, the pain became unbearable and Tia took her life at the age of 37 on September 3, 2018.

She was born April 8, 1981 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Reed Edward and Julita Blanchard Barker. She grew up in Corvallis, OR and graduated from Crescent Valley High School where she was active in softball, soccer and taekwondo, earning her yellow belt. She attended and graduated from Rick’s College in Rexburg, ID with an Associate’s degree and then graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT with Bachler’s degree in physical education.

She worked at Good Foundations Academy in Riverdale, Utah as a PE teacher and coach. She was a softball coach at Rigby High School in Rigby, ID. She also worked at Highland Jr High and Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning. When she moved to Utah she began to umpire softball and earned the honors to umpire at the USA Girls Softball Fastpitch National Championship (16 and under). Tia, also known as Coach C, showed love and admiration to everyone that she came into contact with.

She made everyone feel comfortable and welcome whether they be stranger or friend. Tia loved sports particularly softball and disc golf. Tia loved life. She loved making others happy. She had a great sense of humor that could make nearly anyone laugh.

Tia will be forever remembered by her wife Heather Knight and their child Lincoln Knight, by her son Lucas and daughter Kimber Cornelius and by parents Reed and Judy (Blanchard) Barker, her brothers and sisters Tracy (Rick), Troy (Amy), Todd (Michelle), Teresa, Tann (Shanna). Tia will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, coworkers and students.

She was married to Ian Cornelius and later to Heather Knight.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Alpine Church, 5050 1275 W, Riverdale. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S.

Interment, West Point Cemetery.
