Timothy Kirk Sphar

Timothy Kirk Sphar, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in Clearfield, Utah, at the age of 74. Born on May 5, 1950, in Burbank, California to James Evan Sphar and Lois DeFriez.

Tim was profoundly dedicated to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a calling he embraced with joy and passion, he also enjoyed participating in Temple work.

He was employed by the Los Angeles Fire Department as a firefighter. He was well known as one of the most respected firefighters in the department.

 He was an enthusiastic camper who cherished the great outdoors. Tim made a significant impact through his volunteer efforts at Camp Utada, supporting youth with diabetes, ensuring they felt included and empowered during their formative years.

A particularly cherished aspect of Tim's life was his unique bond with his granddaughter, Selina. Together, they shared a playful relationship that brought out child-like joy in both of them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by those who knew them.

Tim's family, who will carry on his legacy of love and service, includes his devoted wife, Jean Sphar; children Michael, Jason (Stephanie), Aaron (Jacque), Shane (Jessica), Becky (Jace), Amy (Matt), James (Sara), Pam (Cory), Christy (Bryce), and David (Hallie), along with his daughter Shelly, brothers Ron, and Ray and sisters Nancy And Renee. He will be remembered fondly by his 36 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom were immensely proud to call him their Gumpa.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gary and Bob, as well as his sons Jared and Eric. Their memories remain a comforting presence as Tim’s family rejoices in the profound impact of his life.

A Celebration of Life for Timothy will be held on January 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 275 N. 200 W., Clearfield, Utah.

 Family and friends are invited to bring photos and share stories that reflect on the cherished moments of his life, allowing his spirit to shine through the laughter and joy of those who loved him.

 Tim's legacy will continue in the hearts of many, reminding us of the importance of faith, family, and service.
