Tina Louise Palmer Mitchell

April 8, 1974 — March 8, 2025

Our beautiful Tina was born on April 8, 1974. She later was joined by two more beautiful siblings in Tara and Heather. The three of them traveled life together, as “The Three Musketeers” for the next few years through several different foster families until they were fostered and then adopted by Glade and Sherri Palmer on February 26 of 1984. They joined with three other incredible and also beautiful siblings already in that family-- Erick, Jenny, and baby Steven—to make an even half dozen, and things really got rolling in a family of eight. As the oldest or 6, Tina chipped in and helped care for the younger children, especially the baby who hardly ever saw the floor being hauled around so much by Tina and his other siblings.

Tina was an excellent reader and flourished in her schoolwork in elementary school. She had exceptional handwriting then and for the rest of her life. Tina was blessed with many physical talents as well. She was very good at tumbling but especially excelled at dance in the “Stars” dance group. Her teacher once said that she had “the boogie in her body” because she could make any steps look good. She also excelled at piano, hanging on to some of her memorized pieces to play on demand well into adulthood.

Tina’s teenage years were somewhat tumultuous with school being a low priority despite the fact that she was very bright. But luckily, she and all of us survived them. At almost 20, she was blessed with her first child, Brenden, and her life started took a new path with motherhood. Consistent with being as impulsive and impatient as she was, at the end of her pregnancy with Brenden, she went over every bumpy road and took every healthy thing she heard of to try to get him to come sooner. She couldn’t wait to welcome him to this world. A little over two years later, she was blessed with Deshawn, and she really settled in to being a single mom and working at Albertsons. It wasn’t easy, but she was determined to keep and raise her boys. Four years later, she completed her version of “My Three sons” with Damian and still kept working at Albertsons as a cashier. Tina’s personality and customer service skills made her a favorite with the patrons who would wait longer in her line just to have HER check out their groceries. Later on Tina worked at Maverik as an assistant manager, again always excelling at customer care. During these years, she also took and passed her GED with flying colors—a proud moment for all of us.

Tina was very proud of her three boys and took a lot of joy in attending their soccer, baseball, and basketball games through the years and in swimming and playing with them whenever she could. She always said that her boys saved her from herself. She believed strongly in family and also enjoyed many events and holidays with her siblings and parents and later her three granddaughters, Samara, Sammantha, and Brookie.

Mr. Wonderful. David Mitchell came into her life in 1999 and became an integral part of their family. It took them awhile, but in February of 2007, they finally married and spent the next almost 18 years of their life together. Dave has always been a support to Tina in every way and was the loving, hardworking, kind, and gentle father figure in her three boys’ lives for 26 years. Tina always called Dave her “rock” and the boys all still love and look up to him as a father. When Dave went through a cancer crisis that began a few years ago, Tina was there for him every step of the journey. He will be a part of the Palmer family forever even though Tina and Dave divorced in late 2024.

Tina did not live an easy life, and her journey took many twists and turns, but losing her exuberant personality, free spirit, her adventurous and caring heart, and her acceptance of others despite their shortcomings will leave a big hole in our hearts. We will all miss her vital spirit, her quick wit and her very infectious laugh, especially when we attend “Scrooge” at Terrace Playhouse where she was told by the theatre managers there that her laughter often carried the show on the nights she was there.

Tina was survived by her children, Brenden (Kindra), Deshawn and Damian, by her mother, Sherri Palmer, her siblings and mates, Erick Palmer, Jenny and Mike Vowels, Tara and Brian Mann, Heather and Erica Knight, and Steve and Ashley Palmer, her three granddaughters, Samara, Sammantha, and Brookie, and 14 nephew and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Glade Palmer and a sister-in-law, Tia Cornelius. Tina, we shall miss you so much. You have left us too soon. We pray you are at peace in God’s loving arms.
