Toki S. Yoshida
CENTERVILLE – Toki S. Yoshida, passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful of causes incident to age.
She was born November 5, 1918 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, a daughter of Seikichi and Hiro S. Sato. She graduated from Ammon High School in Ammon, Idaho.
Toki married Dick Yoshida in 1939 in the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Los Angeles, California. When the war broke out in 1941, the family returned to Slaterville, Utah and lived together with Frank and Taeko Yoshida for two years. Dick and Toki later moved to Wall Avenue to start their family farm. Two years later they bought a farm just west of Ogden City and farmed for 25 years. During that time, Toki began working for the Internal Revenue Service and worked there for 20 years until she retired. Dick and Toki lived in Harrisville, Utah until Dick passed away. Toki later moved to Centerville, Utah to live with her son, Max and daughter-in-law, Georgia, until her death.
Toki was a member of the Buddhist Church of Ogden, and the Buddhist Women’s Association. She served as an officer of both organizations for many years.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Richard Yoshida, Fresno, CA; Max (Georgia), Yoshida, Centerville; Jay (Marla) Yoshida, Newell, SD; Alice (Kaz) Adachi, Concord, CA; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers, Micki Shiosaki, Blackfoot, ID; Kay Minaga, Chicago, IL; Mary Yamashita, Overton, NV; James (Darlene) Sato, Idaho Falls, ID; Ken Sato, Idaho Falls, ID; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, and sister, Harue Suzuki.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at the Buddhist Temple of Ogden, 155 North Street, with the Reverend Jerry Hirano officiating.
Friends may call at the Buddhist Temple in Ogden on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
