Our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend Tonia Merrill passed away on 3 July 2024. Tonia passed suddenly at her Ogden home of natural causes. Tonia was born in Ogden, Utah on 18 November 1958 to Keith and Myrlene Merrill. She grew up in Layton, Utah and attended Davis County schools including Layton High School.
Tonia was talented in many ways. A gifted musician, she loved to play, create, and listen to piano music. She had a knack for homemade cards to cheer up others and for crafts including home decorations that always had a positive message to uplift and inspire. Tonia was a very loving family member and friend. She could always be found cheering a friend, organizing a get together at her apartment building and spreading good will to others.
Tonia maintained a pleasant sense of humor. Even in times of struggle including various health issues over the years, she always had a joke to tell and a way to look at the funny and bright side of her trials.
Family was a key focus of Tonia’s life. Her family mean everything to her. Her children and grandchildren are the loves of her life.
A member of the Ogden 49th Ward, Tonia had a deep and abiding love for her Savior Jesus Christ. Her temple recommend was a prized possession and had significant meaning in her life as a signal of her love and devotion for Christ and His gospel.
Surviving family members include sons Joshuah Merrill, Zachary (Liz) Merrill, Nicholas (Alicia Anderson) Merrill, daughter Allison Merrill McComb (Derrek), brother David (Cindi) Merrill, sisters Diana Merrill Gardner, Kaylene Allsop, Vicki Merrill Stewart (Shane) and grandchildren Kamea Merrill, Madelynn Merrill, and Liam McComb, and 6 grand-kitties. She has many friends and extended family that she loves dearly.
Tonia was preceded in death by her father Aaron Keith Merrill and mother Myrlene Colvin Merrill.
