Trace Taylor Cannon 1912-2007
OGDEN - Trace Taylor Cannon, 95, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 13, 2007. He was born February 12, 1912, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Tracy Young and Lettie Taylor Cannon.
Dad served a mission in the British Isles (1931-1933), and then graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Administration.
He married Marjorie Irene Coulam, March 21 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have lived in Ogden, Utah all their married life.
Dad was a sales representative for Remington Rand and Steve''s Office Supply. He also owned and operated Cannon''s Office Supply, Stationery and Book Store on Washington Blvd. for five years. He then worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Utah Research and Development Company as a production manager until retirement in 1977.
For a number of years he was a member of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce and the Ogden Lions Club.
As a member of the Foothills Ward, he served in the High Priest group leadership. He was a member of the stake high council and was the Ogden Stake Sunday School Superintendent. Dad served as the 4th bishop of the Ogden 30th Ward, and in his later years, he and his wife were ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. He also served in many teaching positions.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie, of Ogden; five sons and one daughter: Douglas C. (Sally Summerill) Cannon, Kaysville, Utah; Mark C. Cannon, Orem, Utah; Kathryn (Bruce P.) Ballard, Murray, Utah ; Paul C. (Diana Armstrong) Cannon, Brigham City, Utah; John C. (Da''nell Geddes) Cannon, Boise, Idaho; Scott C. (Emily Lichfield) Cannon, Bountiful, Utah. 29 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Dad is also survived by three brothers and three sisters: Melvin C. Cannon, Logan, Utah; Ralph T. Cannon, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Woodrow D. (Judith) Marriott, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Edward L. (Frances) Hart, Provo, Utah; Mrs. J. Dean (Rose Ann) Gerstner, Salt Lake City, Utah; Emerson T. (Wanda) Cannon, Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, two brothers-in-law, Wayne H. Lee and Woodrow D. Marriott; three sisters-in-law, Leonora C. Cannon, Ruth B. Cannon and Anne H. Cannon.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the Foothills Ward Chapel, 1475 Cahoon Street, Ogden, Utah.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel one hour prior to services.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
