After defying all odds by surviving four heart attacks and three forms of cancer, Travis Rushforth Weaver passed away peacefully, on December 18, 2024, surrounded by family. He was 88 years young.
Travis was the youngest of ten children, born to Don Allen Weaver and Phoebe Merrill Rushforth, on June 21, 1936, in Layton, Utah. From the beginning, he had a personality larger than life and lived that life with reckless happiness.
Travis grew up working on his uncle’s farm, riding horses (sometimes full tilt, off a cliff, rolling into the sand below), playing pranks you’d go to jail for now, and being a willing participant in any fist fight offered to him – which he most often won.
When Travis was seventeen years old, he met the prettiest girl that would hold his heart for the rest of his life. After serving a mission in England, he enlisted in the Air Force. Soon after, he married that beauty, Beverly June Pitchford, in the Salt Lake Temple, on August 14, 1959. Their love has grown, matured and never wavered, whether living in a tent in the mountains, a burnt-out trailer or a cozy house on a few acres. They recently celebrated their 65 th wedding anniversary with their family.
Six children were blessed to become a part of Trav and Bev’s family. Brett (Laura) Weaver, Paul (Alora) Weaver, Natalie (Terry) Thompson, Darlene (Mark) Bennett, Glenn (Tara) Weaver and Angela (James) Hansen. He has nineteen grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. All adored him and loved his constant teasing and loving guidance.
Travis was a self-made man and a successful entrepreneur. He loved meeting and talking to people all over the world. He would often take his children on business trips to spend one on one time with them (usually leaving them to run business, with no clue what they were doing, as he mingled with other entrepreneurs).
Travis loved spending time with family, his horse Badger, riding in the mountains, hunting, fishing, fixing things, finding and/or haggling for a good bargain, family history, his scriptures, and quiet evenings with Beverly. He insisted on Monday night family calls and monthly birthday parties with his family. He loved to hassle and tease each of his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, which was a true sign ofhis love and affection. We will miss his knuckle sandwiches, Travis scowl and “love you”.
Travis is a deeply religious man who loves his Savior wholeheartedly. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and wore out his life in serving those around him – serving in the temple until the week before his passing. He and Bev served a mission at the “Nut” Farm in California. He was the best example to his family of how to love and serve God and people.
Travis is survived by his wife Beverly; his children; and brother, Samuel Duane Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings and spouses, Rex (Thelma) Weaver, Joan Sandall, Richard Brent (Marion) Weaver, Wilson Weaver, Don (Faye) Weaver, Merrill Weaver, June (Jim) Hayes, and Christopher James Weaver; sister-in-law Kaye Weaver; son-in-law Mark Bennett and great-granddaughter L.J. Weaver. He is having the best reunion in heaven.
