Trent Schaelling

Trent Schaelling passed away on December 4, 2022, from complications due to cancer treatment. He was born November 19, 1955, in Ogden, Utah, to Joseph and June Schaelling. Being an only child, he was very close to his extended family.

Trent grew up in Sunset, Utah, and attended Clearfield High School, graduating in 1974, and made many life-long friends. He married Nancy Daily on November 30, 1979, in Ogden, Utah. They have lived in Roy, Utah, for over 40 years. He was a loving father to his two sons. He attended trade school and became a journeyman electrician. He worked in construction and manufacturing, spending 20+ years at Smith’s warehouse and dairy production in Layton, Utah.

Trent enjoyed nothing more than spending time around a campfire with his family and friends. He spent many wonderful years at Laplatta Wilderness Ranch making friends of everyone he met and always looking for a good chat. No matter how busy life was, he never missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in their many endeavors. Everyone knew they could always count on Trent to be there whenever help was needed. He served others without a second thought and provided an amazing example of service to his children and grandchildren and all those who knew him. Trent was always tinkering on something, and if he couldn’t fix it with duct tape and tie wire, it wasn’t worth fixing.

Trent is survived by his wife Nancy; his sons, Erik (Leonora) and Lars; and his four grandchildren, Addison, Lillian, Timothy, and Hunter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday form 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
