Troy Ray Roth, loving husband, father, and our hero passed away suddenly at his home in West Valley City on February 27, 2021. Troy was born on June 14, 1970 in Ogden, Utah to his loving parents Lois and Danny Roth.
Troy grew up in Utah and graduated from Layton High School in 1988. He met the love of his life Janiel Murano, in July of 1992. They married on May 14, 1994 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 14, 2012. They ended up settling in West Valley City where they built a home and life they loved. He went on many business ventures from renovating houses, to owning his own lawn care business and being a loyal employee of Frito Lay for 10 years. He was a passionate, hard worker and instilled in all his children that school is very important and how to work hard for what you want in life.
Troy was an incredible man who always joked he had 9 lives. In 1999 Troy was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He received chemotherapy for almost 8 years and never missed a day of work. He fought his battle with bravery until 2007 when he received a bone marrow transplant from his wonderful daughter Jess. In his own words “I feel like the luckiest man in the world and I’m so very lucky to have you all in my life… it’s not very often a child is given the opportunity to give life to the father that gave them life.” It was his re-birthday, and we were the lucky ones to get 14 more years. Unfortunately, he was faced with many health battles after beating cancer.
Troy was always his happiest when he was in the mountains hunting, fishing, four wheeling and camping. He never missed a bow hunt. He lived to be in the mountains spending precious time with his family and friends. He treasured every moment he spent teaching his kids and grandkids about the beauty of the great outdoors, creating adventures at every turn, making up silly songs while waiting to see a deer and even bribing the kids with money to spot one. He never forgot to value the time he spent with loved ones and always taught to never take it for granted.
He also loved sports, especially the Utah Jazz, U of U Utes, Salt Lake Real, Denver Broncos and whichever football team was playing against his oldest daughter Kimber’s favorite team. He enjoyed horror movies, musicals, taking weekend trips to Wendover, golfing, anything outdoors and being surrounded with his loved ones. He had a never-ending love for his furry dog friends and would often find himself the one who took in all the strays. Troy never missed an opportunity to offer help to someone and genuinely cared about others. He never met someone he could not love or care about in some way. He loved to tease and pull pranks (which he has passed down to his kids). You knew without a doubt he loved you if he was teasing you! He did manage to pull one last prank on his daughter MaKaylee by hiding her bag of chips in his room. He is most famous for his Thanksgiving Day prank. Every year, whoever was new at his table would be surprised to find out where the tenderest part of the turkey was!
The loss of this remarkable man will always be present. We will always have his spirit to guide us and keep us as strong as he was. Words will never describe how much he means to us and how he touched the lives of everyone he met. He will always be our hero! We love and will always miss him, but also feel comfort knowing he is now free of all the pain and physical limitations.
Although 50 years was and would never be enough Troy is survived by his dad Danny Roth (Jeannie Roth), Brother Kip Roth (Bethann Roth), wife Janiel Roth, children Kimber Roth, Jessica Roth (Amber Hughes) (from previous marriage to Meredith Hill Wessman), MaKaylee Roth, Hayden Roth (Camille Roth) and Nicole Supp (Gaile Supp), his four grandchildren Maddison Roth, Daxton Roth, Trevyn Hughes, Opal Supp and one granddaughter on the way who is celebrating with him in heaven before she comes here in May to meet her parents Hayden and Camille. He was preceded in death by his beautiful mother and grandparents.
