Truman Henry Carver a" "A Life Well-Lived"
KAYSVILLE a" Truman Henry Carver, 92, our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2008 surrounded by his family. Truman was born September 1, 1915 in Clearfield, Utah to Lewis and Afton Freestone Carver. Raised in Clearfield, he graduated from Davis High School and Weber College; attended Utah State University.
Truman met his eternal companion, Vivian Herrington, while working at the movie theater. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 9, 1938 and spent 70 wonderful years together. Vivian passed away in February 2005.
Dad was a veteran of World War II serving honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kaysville 20th Ward. Serving in many church capacities throughout his life he was fondest of the many years he spent as an ordinance worker in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples.
Truman enjoyed a long and successful career at HAFB working in ground safety retiring after 30 years of service. A short time after retiring from government work, he went to work for the State of Utah, OSHA Department, retiring at the age of 70. He was finally ready to just enjoy his horses and gardening. His life was an example of integrity, hard work, sacrifice and devotion to his family. He found the good in everyone and believed them remarkable. He was a true friend to many. He always felt truly blessed to have married Vivian and be able to raise three sons. He was an example as a father.
Recognized by many horsemen as a gifted trainer, he owned and showed champion Arabians throughout the Western States. He always said "where I am going, I hope they have good horses." Dad had many other talents through the years, other areas he excelled in were: boxing; raising, grooming and showing wire-haired fox terriers; and a neighborhood source for pruning trees and gardening. He was truly a man of many talents. When he said he would do something, he did it. If you needed anything, he took care of it before any mention was made. Members of his family express their appreciation to all his neighbors, friends and members of the Kaysville 20th Ward for the watchful eye and friendship they showed.
Surviving are his children: Truman R. (Kathy), Kaysville; Michael J., Bountiful; daughter-in-law, Carol Carver, Eden; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; Roberts, George and Jim Carver (brothers).
Truman was preceded in death by his wife Vivian and son Brent; his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
Dad we love you. Our love cannot be expressed with mere words of expression. You were truly and honorable man. We look forward to the day when we are together again as a family.
