Twila Anderson Knight
Twila Anderson Knight, our sweet Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to many, passed away at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Stone, Idaho on September 29, 1922.
Twila was the daughter of Lawrence and Grace Ida Anderson. She was raised in Stone, Idaho and Snowville, Utah. She graduated from Bear River High School with honors, and L.D.S. Seminary in Garland, Utah.
She was raised in a loving, close-knit family of five; three brothers and one sister whom she dearly loved. Her parents and three brothers preceded her in death, Larry Rex Anderson, Omar Anderson, and Floyd D. Anderson.
In 1942, she married J. Loyd Knight and moved to Plain City, Utah, where she lived for thirty years. They raised eight children. He preceded her in death. She was proud of her children and they brought her comfort and joy. They cared for her needs and kept her very comfortable in her declining years.
While in Plain City she was active in the L.D.S. church, Sunday School, Relief Society, Stake Board Primary, and was a Primary teacher for many years. She was active in the P.T.A. for elementary, junior high, and high school. She loved her family, home, and pretty things. When she had extra time, she crocheted doilies and many beautiful afghans.
In 1966, she started working for the Government at the Defense Depot, Ogden, Utah. She stayed for twenty years, and while working there she received numerous awards. She retired in 1986. After retiring, she spent six years with Travelers Aid as a volunteer at Delta Airlines in Salt Lake City.
Twila moved to Bountiful, after the children had left, to be near her only sister, Ruth (Robert) Bowen and family, and her brother, Floyd D. (Jeannine) Anderson. They had many memorable vacations, including trips to Hawaii, two cruises, and many short trips. Her sister and family were her guardian angels the last few years and took very good care of her.
She loved to travel with her girlfriends to Branson and other places. She loved good music, shows, entertainment, and was interested in seeing new places.
Mom had a great sense of humor that helped keep her sanity throughout her life. She had many friends and loved people. They touched her heart and she touched many hearts.
She is survived by her 7 children, 40 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren (with 4 on the way).
Surviving children are: Linda (Larry) Charlton, West Weber, Utah; Janice (Hal) Wakefield, Randy Knight, Gary (Wendy) Knight, and Mary (Cory) Webster all from Phoenix, Arizona; Penny Bingham, Palm Desert, California; Shelly (Bill) Sickinger, Maui, Hawaii.
