“Twist”
William L. Jones
LAYTON – Twist Jones, 88, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012. He was born September 19, 1923 in Tooele, Utah to Conway Carter and Ella Ruth Shields Jones. He married Jeanine Todd on August 24, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away on January 24, 2006.
Twist was a World War II Navy veteran. After the war, he graduated from Utah State University, coaching for thirteen years and teaching for over thirty years at Ben Lomond High School. He enjoyed skiing, golf, high school sports, and Aggie football. He was an active member of the LDS church. Twist belonged to the Officials Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his daughter Sherri Jones James, grandchildren Nathan (McKenzie) Jones Isom, Natalie (Robert) Isom Patane, great-grandchildren Porter, Presley and Payton Patane, and son Tim Jones.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Kevin James, sister and brother-in-law, LaDean Jones Long and Jack Long, brother Merlin C. Jones, and Jean Jones.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 6 p.m. at the Layton Country Oaks LDS Chapel, 2680 East Cherry Lane. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 100 East.
