V. Robert Kelly
The family of Dr. V. Robert Kelly, 83, wishes to let you know he is now out of the office. After a brief time as the patient he left this world on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 of causes incident to age.
He entered this life on March 26, 1924, the youngest child of George L. and Cora Robinson Kelly.
He was sealed to his high school sweetheart, Beth Goetzman, on February 3, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple while home on leave from the Army. Although he was wounded in WWII and suffered polio while in medical school he went on to become a physician and practiced medicine at the Tanner Clinic in Layton for 40 years. He delivered over 4,000 babies during his career and distinguished himself in many capacities in the health care field on a local, state and national level.
His church service was usually in the field of music with conducting of the choir at the Ogden Temple dedication being a highlight. He sang barbershop with the S.P.B.E.S.Q.S.A. for many years delighting in the opportunity to celebrate life through music.
His accomplishments would fill a page but those are not so much what he will be remembered for. What we will remember are the thousands of hours of service he rendered anytime and anywhere he saw a need.
Survived by his wife, Beth; children Paul Rhead (Vikki), SLC, UT; Louise (Howard) Cheney, Kaysville, UT; Joseph Lynn (Judy) Kelly, Houston, TX; Cheryl Ann (Steven) Eddington, Sugar Land, TX; one sister, Betty Hughes, SLC, UT, 22 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
