Val Hyrum Dearden

Val Dearden passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011.

He was born July 10, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Dr. Stephen T. and Lenora Ann Stephens. He was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. He attended Weber State College and received his apprenticeship as a carpenter in 1958.

Val built homes in Ogden, Roy, Riverdale and Main Pointe South.

In 1967, Val met his wife, Cheri Winger and they were married July 27, 1968.

He loved football, baseball, boating and fishing.

Val is survived by his children Bryan (Jennifer) of La Quinta, CA; Richard of Phoenix, AZ; Kristie (John) Adams, Pamela (Pete) Berndt, Kirk (Christine) Dearden, all of Fresno, CA; Michael (Jackie) Dearden of Syracuse; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Veda D. (Pete) Ospital, two brothers, Ralph (Betty Ann) and Lee (Rita), all of Ogden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Glen.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to Applegate Hospice and Val''s nurse, Cathy for the love, support and respect shown to Val.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 26th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
