Val L. Wheelwright
NORTH OGDEN a" Val L. Wheelwright, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2010. He was born August 17, 1948 to Farrar "Tuff" and Frances Mortensen Wheelwright.
He spent many winter days with his cousin plowing snow. His dad had him working for Wheelwright construction when he was 8 years old. After graduating from Ogden High School in 1967, Val joined the Navy Seabees and served in Vietnam. He worked in construction for the remainder of his life including, Big-D and R&O Construction. He was a 30 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Val married Sandi Sackett, who gave him two beautiful daughters, Bobbi (Craig) Wheelwright Charlesworth and Jerilyn (Brett) Rockhill. They later divorced. He married Pam Visser who blessed him with another beautiful daughter, Regina (Joe) Faxon. They divorced and he then married Cindy Dicks Tanner in 1982 which added three more children to his family, Shad Tanner (Liah Baron), Joel (Rheannon) Tanner, Chelsea Neal (Joe Miller), and son-in-law, Jay Neal. He also had another daughter Greta (Paul) Hutchinson together they had 22 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, all of his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, two nephews, Tod (Susan) Wheelwright, Alan (Sheri) Wheelwright and one niece, Terri (Bruce) Evans. He is also survived by two best friends, who he considered family, Val Creamer and Rob Birch as well as his cousin Jim Watts.
He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Larry.
The family would like give a special thank you to Terri "Toots" Evans for her love and support and for the CNS home and hospice core group.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Ogden City Cemetery.
Per Val''s wishes, there will not be a viewing. The family would like to invite his family and friends to a "Celebration of Val''s Life" following the graveside services on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the F.O.E. on 975 Wall Ave. in the back room.
Graveside services under the direction of Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VA Hospital, 500 Foothill Drive, SLC., Utah 84148.
