Valerie Victor Ashton

November 14, 1944 — February 25, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Valerie Victor Ashton, who departed this life on February 25, 2025, at home, in the loving care of her daughter, Melissa, and with her family beside her, at the age of 80.

Valerie was born on November 14, 1944, in Ogden, Utah, to Erland Adrian and Afton Victor. She spent most of her life in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado.

She found great joy in her roles as a wife, mother, and homemaker, dedicating her life to nurturing her family and serving others. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her faith and love for the Savior were central to everything she did. She served in various capacities, including leadership roles, where her talents and compassion touched the lives of many.

Music was an integral part of Valerie’s life. A gifted organist and pianist, she shared her talents within her church and community. For nearly 40 years, she taught dozens of piano students, instilling in them a love for music and a dedication to their craft. And later in life, she re-entered the workforce, spending nearly 15 years as an administrative professional at the University of Northern Colorado, where her skills and dedication continued to make a meaningful impact.

Valerie was preceded in death by her husband, Keith M. Ashton Sr., her two brothers, Vern and Ralph Victor, her sister, Carolyn Burt, and her firstborn son, Perry, who passed shortly after childbirth.

Valerie will be deeply missed by her family, including her son Keith, his wife Heidi, and their family; her daughter Andrea, her husband Dave, and their family; her daughter Melissa, her husband Drake, and their family; and her son Josh, his wife Jessi, and their family. She cherished her 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in their love, laughter, and accomplishments, and considered being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother one of her greatest blessings; her legacy of love and devotion will live on through them.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse UT.

A separate burial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Colorado at a later date. Details will be shared once finalized.

The family kindly requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation in honor of Valerie. Your support will help advance research and bring hope to those affected by Parkinson’s disease.
