Valerie Jo Hall Burk
SYRACUSE a" Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, Valerie Jo Hall Burk passed away unexpectedly late Monday evening, September 23, 2013, with her husband Allan by her side.
Valerie was born in Ogden, Utah on June 23, 1957 to Wayne G. and Horaldene (Holly) Q. Hall. Even as a young child, Valerie was kind, loving and looked for ways to serve others. She loved horseback riding, gymnastics, camping, fishing, and playing games with her family.
Valerie graduated from Clearfield High School in 1975. She then married Gerald James Page, Jr. Although this marriage ended in divorce, together they had five sons that were the most important part of her life. She was so proud of the men they have become.
She later married the love of her life, Allan Joseph Burk and was sealed to him in the Ogden, Utah Temple. She embraced his two children as her own. Valerie and Allan loved and took great care of each other for the past 23 years. He affectionately called her "Petunia".
Through the years Valerie''s talents expanded to include crafts, quilting, and gardening. After raising five sons, she loved doing "girly things" with her daughters-in-law. She loved each one of her grandchildren and spent lots of time doing all she could to spoil them. Valerie enjoyed many hours attending performances and sporting events. She never let anyone leave her home without a tearful hug.
Valerie worked for the Davis School District lunch program for nearly 20 years, where she truly loved the youth and her co-workers.
She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony and shared that light with others. She and her husband served for many years as church librarians. She had a passion for visiting teaching and genealogy.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Allan, her sons, Matthew Page (Amanda), Bryon Page (Leslie), Christopher Page (Jennifer), Nathan Page (Cynthia), Johnathan Page (Mikaela), Heidi Burk, Cory Burk (Monica), 15 grandchildren, and two more on the way. She is also survived by her mother, Holly Hall, brother, Gary Wayne Hall (Judy), and sisters, Charon Bird (Mitchell), Vonette Kerr (Gary).
