Vance A. Mendenhall
CLEARFIELD a" Vance A. Mendenhall, 78, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012.
He was born February 26, 1934 in Clifton, Idaho the son of Willis and Natalie Anderson Mendenhall. Vance married Faye Hansen on August 8, 1958 in Weston, Idaho.
He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 20 years of service. He proudly served in Vietnam. Vance then went to work at Hill Air Force Base and later retired from there.
Vance was a member of the LDS Church and a life member of the Layton VFW, Post 8307, having served three terms as Post Commander. He was also a life member of the American Legion. Vance enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing the harmonica.
He is survived by his wife Faye and his siblings: Arlo (Joyce), St. Anthony, ID; Eloise Povey, Oralee Kerr, Bern Mendenhall and sister-in-law, Gladys, Boise, ID.
Preceded in death by his beloved daughter Sherry, parents, siblings, Neil, Cyle, Lawrence (Lorraine), Jay (Metta), Coy (Claine) Jensen, and brothers-in-law, Grant Povey, Fred Kerr and sister-in-law, Bertha.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Weston, Idaho Cemetery.
