Velma Baugh Palmer July 31, 1936 ~ February 15, 2011

RIVERDALE a€" On Tuesday, February 15, 2011, we lost our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, after a courageous battle with lung and bone cancer.

Velma was born July 31, 1936 in Tropic, Utah, the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Baugh.

She married the love of her life, Rex Palmer, on July 4, 1952. Together they had six children, Ross, Dennis, Janice (Dan), Russell (Michelle), William, Michael (Debra), 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was the proudest grandma in the world. Even in her last days, she could be heard telling all of the hospital staff about each and every one of them. She was also a loving and supportive wife of almost 50 years until Rex''s death in July of 2000.

Velma had a very special place in her heart for all of her family. She had her own loving way of making each of them feel like they were her favorite. Her sisters were her best friends and were always by her side. Velma also had a special place in her heart for Rozlyn, her neighbor and friend of many years. She enjoyed her Home Teachers, Wayne and Janet Chambers, for the smiles they brought each time they visited.

Velma loved the outdoors and spent many hours in her beautiful rose garden. She loved her trips with the girls to Wendover and camping in the Uintas with her family. Velma loved to make trips to her home in Southern Utah, where she spent countless hours walking the hills. Many baby blankets were quilted and crocheted with love for all of her many grandchildren.

As a family, we would like to thank the hospital, doctors, nurses and everyone who cared for her. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Graveside will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
