LAYTON – Our beloved grandmother, Velma Ruth Burt Davis Wells passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016 in her home, surrounded by loved ones.  She was 93 years old.  Velma was born to Joseph J. Burt and Daisy M. Buttars on August 5, 1922 in Clarkston, Utah.  Growing up in the Cache Valley area she attended North Cache High School, and later received certificates of completion from Stevens Henager College and Weber State University.  She married Alvin F. Davis on October 30, 1944 in Ogden, Utah and had one son, Reggie A. Davis.  Both have preceded her in death.

Velma worked for Ogden City and after her retirement, spent many years in Malad, Idaho where she happily cultivated her numerous assortment of flowers.  On April 6, 2000, she married a long time friend, and current companion, David J. Wells in Malad, Idaho.  She has spent the last 15 years residing in Layton, Utah.

Velma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities.  Many who knew her, or served with her, often expressed how her beautiful spirit blessed those around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Alvin Davis, son Reggie Davis, sister Norma (Lawerence) Bowen, sister Larene Burt, brother Lavell J. (Elva) Burt, sister Merle (Marlin) Fife, brother Lyle Burt, brothers- in-law: Dean Thompson and Ben Call.

She is survived by her sister Cleo Call, brother John (Merle) Burt, sister-in-law Maurine Burt, daughter-in-law Lucille Davis, and 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (A.C.) Thomas, Kimberly (Greg) Hales, Nicole Davis, Stephanie Robbins, Heidi Davis, Jason Davis, Jeremy (Cinnamon) Davis, Ashley (Russ) Bird, Cecil (Marci) Shern, Wendy Aerakis, Melody(Jeff) Wheelwright.  She adored her 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the loving neighbors, ward members and caregivers from Harmony Home Health & Hospice and Essential Care Home Health Services.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Rd.  A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clarkston Cemetery, 11000 N. 8400 W. Clarkston, Utah following the services.
