Veloy Delia Johnson
July 19, 1927 ~ April 5, 2019
Veloy Delia Johnson, 91, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Peachtree Place Assisted Living in Roy, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Ogden, Veloy graduated from Ogden High School and worked for a local bank before marrying Elmer Ray Johnson on December 22, 1947 in Evanston, Wyoming.
They lived in South Ogden and they settled in Roy in 1952 where they raised their five children together. Veloy retired in 1990 from IRS after 20 years as a tax examiner.
She and Elmer enjoyed camping at Blacksmith Fork Canyon together. They loved the outdoors. Veloy also loved pinochle and enjoyed sewing, watching Bonanza, and listening to her police scanner. She played BINGO and enjoyed her trips to Wendover.
Veloy will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family. She was always smiling and had a quick wit, and sometimes a quick paddle, too. She adored her father and passed that legacy of love along to her children.
Veloy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her Relief Society sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Lee) Holt, Roy; sons, Ken (Sarah) Johnson, South Weber, Robert “Bob” (Tamara) Johnson, Roy, Roy B. (Lynn) Johnson, South Ogden, and Wayne D. (Annette) Johnson, Cedar City, 27 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, with 2 great grandchildren on the way; brother, Richard (LaWana) Jensen, Roy. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Carlyle Jensen, and a sister, Loree Pierson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. on Friday, April 12, 2019. Friends may meet with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
Interment, Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family thanks the staff of Peachtree Assisted Living Facility and of Comfort Worx Hospice, particularly Thomas Gerard, for all of their loving care.
